Free radicals are depicted as the arch enemy of preventative medicine. They’re often presented as microscopic pests intent on damaging your body’s cells, aging the skin and causing havoc at a microscopic level.

Inflammation. We always hear it’s bad. But why?
Normally, inflammation is actually a good thing.
It is the body’s way of healing itself after an injury, of defending against viruses and bacteria and repairing damaged tissue.
When the body detects there’s a problem, it sends white blood cells flooding to the area to repair the damage. This results in increased blood flow and a temporary swelling of cells in the infected area. After the damage or threat is removed, the inflammation will reduce on its own.
However…
Problems occur when the inflammation goes on for weeks, or even months. This is known as “chronic inflammation” and is to blame for almost all disease and long-term sickness. This includes heart disease, arthritis, asthma and tuberculosis.
